First complete translation of Don Quixote in German, two octavo volumes illustrated with two added engraved title pages and thirty-two full-page plates; bound in full contemporary German parchment over boards; several margins torn, some with slight losses to a few letters; lacking signature Kk in volume two (eight leaves comprising pages 505 through 520), no evidence that the signature was ever present or removed; printed in black letter, some toning; half-titles present in both volumes; final leaf in first volume stuck to inside back board; 6 3/4 x 3 3/4 in.
